Police Sports Federation Establishes Inspection Committee for Shooting Ranges

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates - Monday, July 8th 2013 [ME NewsWire]

In a meeting held at its Abu Dhabi headquarters, the Police Sports Federation Board of Directors reviewed the end of season results for 2012-2013. A total of 6151 athletes took part in the various sports competitions, out of whom 2744 athletes took part in the police GHQs tournaments; 2629 participants took part in the sports and societal events and 778 participants took part in the Ministry of Interior?s sports activities.

Chair of the meeting, Councilor Abdullah Salem bin Nasra Al Ameri, President of the Sports Federation, expressed his thanks to the police leadership, for its ongoing follow-up and support for the various sporting events and championships organized by the Federation. He also expressed his appreciation for the police leadership?s contributions to ensure the success of the sports season 2012/2013 by providing the necessary resources and facilities to all participating teams. Moreover, he commended the Board members? efforts to boost police sports, which represent the cornerstone to develop sports in general in the UAE; hoping to see further good results in the upcoming season.

Al Ameri also announced the results of the Minister of Interior?s 16th Futsal Championship Cup, which was held in Ras Al Khaimah on June 2-19, 2013; praising the distinguished good organization of the Championship and the technical level of the participating teams. He thanked the Ras Al Khaimah Police GHQ for hosting the Championship, and for providing all the requirements and resources to ensure its success.

Furthermore, he extended his congratulations for the Abu Dhabi Police GHQ for obtaining the General Sports Excellence Shield with a total of 546 points; wishing everyone further luck and success.

The Police Sports Federation Board of Directors also reviewed the minutes of the final three technical meetings related to the various tournaments, Championships and events, which were held at the Federal Police School, between the Police Sports Federation and representatives from the different police GHQs and Departments general, to assess the 2012- 2013 sports season. It also reviewed the Technical Committee meeting organized with a view to boost the Shooting Championships, and headed by Brigadier General Abdul Malik Mohammed Abdul Rahim Jani, Director of the Police Sports Federation.

To this end, the Board of Directors established an inspection committee for shooting ranges at the level of the police GHQs. The committee, headed by Colonel Abdullah Ismail, will be tasked with to study the needs and requirements in order to host the police Shooting Championships. It also formed the Technical Committee to develop athletics competitions, headed by Major Juma Al Mil. The Board approved all recommendations, proposals and technical points decided by the committees, in order to develop activities and sporting events in the sports activities program for the upcoming season 2013/2014, with the participation of representatives from the various police GHQs and Departments General. This comes in line with the goal to ensure an active participation in sports decisions that aim to enhance the required sports level.

It also approved the courses and training programs recommended by the attendees, and decided to integrate it in the Federation?s training plan for 2014, in the fields of athletics, modern Olympic rowing, Olympic archery, sports management, and refereeing, in partnership with bodies and national sports institutions and relevant international bodies and Sports Federations; along with the Arab Police Sports Federation and International Police Sports Union.?

Furthermore, the Board of Directors reviewed the results of the Arab Police Sports Federation?s (APSF) Executive Office meeting, which was held in Cairo; as well as the Arab Police Sports Federation?s plan for the upcoming period.

At the end of the meeting, the Police Sports Federation President and Members of the Board of Directors expressed their thanks and appreciation to the Federation?s strategic partners, namely; the General Authority for the Youth and Sports Welfare; the Leadership Development Center; National Olympic Committee; and the national sports federations, for their sincere and continuous cooperation. They also commended their permanent follow-up; the technical, administrative and refereeing support for the Federation?s championships and activities; and the exchange of experiences and views, to boost Emirati sports. The Board of Directors also praised the significant cooperation received from the various media outlets (print and broadcast); and the vital role they played to highlight the activities and events organized by the Federation, which contributed significantly to drive the success of the Police Sports sector.
